Over The Rainbow, Even Odd (2011)
On the pages of the book Computer Color, 10,000 Computer-Generated Process Colors (Chronicle Books, San Francisco 1990) , John and Paul have lino-printed a floating grid in black ink. Slight variations in the grid's positioning create vibrations that appear at once spatial and aleatory.

Each of the ten thousand color samples contained in this guide have been computer generated, output at high resolution on a Postscript raster image processor, and printed on the book's high-quality coated stock...

The introduction of a hand-cut and hand-printed grid over the 10,000 colours of these pages, creates a poetic tension between low-tech imaging and high; between the analogue and the digital. A reflection perhaps on our daily conversation/confrontation between our bodies and the machine.
